Frequently Asked questions
As The London Storyteller offers privately tours, our fees vary depending upon how many guests you are booking for. Fees vary depending upon the tour itself as well, as some have inclusions or may be more specialised in their nature.
Private Tours are tours booked by you and exclusively provided to you by The London Storyteller. This means that they are solely for you and your party.
Bespoke tours are tailored to you and your interests. We charge a premium for them because we spend time preparing something unique for you.
These are customised experiences, which can simply be meeting and ending at certain places with including certain themes along or sights along the way or something much more immersive and ambitious.
Flexibility, personalisation and an experience tailored to you.
We only offer private tours because they give our guests the best flexibility in terms of choosing a time to start that suits them and make the experience more personable.
Some of our happiest clients have been those where we’ve been asked to switch up our original plan for a specific tour or activity on the day.
Typically, we offer these at half day (four hours) and full day (eight hours) but because they are bespoke we can create something that is shorter or however long you need them for. Please just ask by contacting info(at)thelondonstoryteller.com
Our tours in London are typically on foot with a public transport (e.g. tube, bus, boats or train) or taxis (and private drivers by prior arrangement).
This model enables us to stay fully flexible and welcome hearing your preferences in advance. We can adapt tours and experiences to cater for specific mobility requirements, whether that’s just to reduce the step count or if we need to plan a step free route, we welcome the opportunity to serve our clients and to help make their experience with us in London as enjoyable as possible.
One of the advantages of exploring on foot is that we can show our guests parts of the city that they would almost certainly otherwise miss.
Typically, additional transport is not included in the cost of your tour unless explicitly stated.
We look to tailor transportation to your needs, preference and budget; whether this is exploring in the most expedient or something more adventurous such as seeing the city by helicopter or a privately chartered speed boat.
We recommend that our guests dress appropriately for the weather and of course it helps if you have a mobile telephone so that we can contact you on the day.
In London public transport is cashless so mostly can be accessed using a contactless bank or credit card, Google Pay/Apple Pay, as well as Transport For London’s own Oyster Card. Each guest will need a payment method. Children under 11 travel for free.
By prior arrangement we can help get you in to central London from the airport, though we are likely to use a 3rd party provider for which we will charge a modest administration fee. We are happy to meet you at the airport too by prior arrangement though will charge accordingly for time to travel in order to do so.
On some privately guided tours we have limited the numbers that you can book, though typically we allow up to 12 guests in a group on our click-to-book service, we can host larger groups by prior arrangement.
The London Storyteller has a network of highly trusted partners who will collaborate with when scaling up for more involved projects for larger groups of guests. We can and have hosted much larger groups, though we need to plan accordingly for these larger parties.

Since being founded by Tom Barclay Matchett in 2018, The London Storyteller has delivered more than two thousand privately guided tours and experiences for clients from all walks of life and from all around the world.
The London Storyteller serves clients from tourists and travelers to business leaders and corporate teams. The majority of our guests tend to hail from the United States, though we serve guests from across Europe, around the world and of course the UK.
Our clients may be individuals enjoying a one-to-one tour experience, couples, families (of all ages), groups, educational institutions, teams and delegations visiting London for conferences or off site team building experiences.
This may sound like a broad mix, though as our services are delivered on a private and dedicated basis to our guests, we are able to define, adapt and deliver accordingly to match with our respective patron’s expectations.
Typically our online inventory closes off 24 hours in advance. However, if you would like to make a last minute booking and we have the availability then we will be happy to be of service. In these circumstances, please contact us here either by telephone or email.
Payment for tours is made usually in full and upfront via card.
We can offer split payment upon request on a discretionary basis, usually this is 50% up front and then 50% no later than 10 days in advance of the tour date.
For gratuities, we can accept cash and also cards on the day of the experience.
